It feels like a lifetime ago since Doug and I were in touch, but as I think back, it feels like I can touch the memories.
I can still see that cheeky grin of his as he made a dummy pass or blindside break to create an opening for a not-so-skilled winger to score. Never seeking credit for his unique skills on the rugby field.
I remember the train journeys back to Scotland during the school breaks. Doug had a way of making journeys like that far from boring!!
In particular, I have very special memories of the time we spent together off the Old Kent Road in East London building an adventure playground for some kids who didn’t have much - he had a big heart.
